mh PROJECTは、国際芸術祭「あいち2025」のパートナーシップ・プログラムとして、ダンスや音、映像など、さまざまな表現方法を組み合わせて「身体」や「空間」との関わりを含み、鑑賞者がともに「場」を体感する、アートパフォーマンスに焦点を当てたプログラムを展開しています。
2025年最後の展示・パフォーマンスは、アートの表現方法が多様化する現代において「複雑化していく世の中を新たな角度から見る、考える」きっかけを生み出すプロジェクトとして「身体の中の詩（うた）と身体の形を編み、未知の物語」を探求するアーティスト、中村愛音による「アサガオ＿Morning Glory」を開催します。
中村愛音は、現在カリフォルニア大学バークレー校作曲博士課程に在籍し、音楽理論や作曲、身体表現に基づいた幅広い実践を行っています。「リスニング＝聴く」という行為を通して、地域の歴史や記憶、労働と家族の物語に耳を傾け、世代間のケアや葛藤、理解と再生をテーマにパフォーマンス作品、インスタレーション作品を制作しています。
本プロジェクトは、一宮市の元織工女や、地域に暮らす人へのリスニング、そして自身の家族の歴史＿父方の祖母が一宮出身、機織工場を営んでいた＿を掘り下げたパーソナルなリサーチをもとに、世代を超えた繊細な物語を、祖母、母、娘へとジェンダーにまつわるトラウマ、葛藤、そして理解と再生をテーマに、声、語り、身体を用いたパフォーマンス。その痕跡を含むインスタレーション作品「アサガオ＿Morning Glory」を展開します。
約2年の構想を経て始まるプロジェクトについて、中村は「パフォーマンスは、音、身体、声を中心に構成します。 昨年、織物の街・八王子にあった母方の家と別れを告げたときに手元に残った“欠片”、家族の見えない物語の“欠片”、そしてのこぎり二という場所の中にある見えないストーリーやメモリーを聴き合い、掛け合わせながら、作品として立ち上げていきます。目に見えるレベルでも、見えないかもしれないレベルでも、パフォーマンス中、そして会期を通して、作品が変化し続けていくような場にしたいです。」
そして「タイトルの「アサガオ」は、祖母の“かぼそいやさしさ”を、父が朝顔にたとえた記憶に由来します。その fragility（壊れやすさ）の中にある強さとやさしさが家族の傷を紡ぎ、世代を超えて響く、癒やしと再生のかたちになることを願っています。」

mh PROJECT is part of the partnership program of the Aichi 2025 International Art Festival. It presents a series of art performances that combine various expressive forms—such as dance, sound, and video—engaging deeply with “the body” and “space,” and inviting audiences to share in the experience of the moment.
For its final exhibition and performance of 2025, the program will feature “Asagao — Morning Glory” by artist Aine Nakamura, who explores “weaving poems (songs) within body and attuning to untold stories,” as part of a project that seeks to provide new ways of seeing and thinking about our increasingly complex world through art.
Currently a doctoral candidate in composition at the University of California, Berkeley, Nakamura works across sounding, moving and sensing. Through the act of “listening,” she explores local histories and memories, stories of labor and family, and creates performances and installations centered on themes of intergenerational care, conflict, understanding, and renewal.
After nearly two years of conceptual development, Nakamura explains: “The performance will be centered around sound, body, and voice. When I said goodbye last year to my mother’s house in Hachioji, a city known for its textile industry, I was left with ‘fragments’—tangible pieces and invisible stories of my family. By listening to and layering these with the unseen stories and memories embedded in Nokogiri Nii (the venue), I will build the work from these connections. I hope the performance space will continue to transform—both in visible and invisible ways—throughout the performance and exhibition period.”
She adds:“The title ‘Asagao’ (Morning Glory) comes from my father’s memory of comparing my grandmother’s ‘delicate kindness’ to a morning glory flower. Within that fragility lies both strength and gentleness—a way to weave together family wounds into a form of healing and regeneration that resonates across generations.”
Aine Nakamura: Composer, Storyteller, and Theatre/Performance Artist
Based in the United States, Aine Nakamura creates interdisciplinary works that move fluidly between music, storytelling, and performance. Her projects have been presented internationally at venues including Gallatin Gallery (New York University), Universität der Künste Berlin, The LAB (San Francisco), and Abrons Arts Center (New York), among others. She also leads workshops around the world.
Nakamura was a Fulbright Fellow (2021–2022) in Berlin and has received numerous honors, including the Leo Bronstein Homage Award from New York University and a Special Mention for the Pauline Oliveros New Genre Prize. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Composition at the University of California, Berkeley, where she is supported by a research fellowship. Nakamura lives and works in the California Bay Area.
