An ancient metaphor: thought is a thread, and the raconteur is a spinner of yarns - but the true storyteller, the poet, is a weaver. The scribes made this old and audible abstraction into a new and visible fact. After long practice, their work took on such an even, flexible texture that they called the written page a textus, which means cloth.
古代の比喩：思考は糸であり、物言う人は糸を紡ぐ人である。しかし真の語り部、詩人は織る人である。書記は、この古くて耳に聞こえる抽象的なものを、新しく目に見える事実にした。長い修行の末、彼らの仕事は均一で柔軟な質感を持つようになり、彼らは書かれたページを「textus」（布を意味する）と呼ぶようになった。
編まれた布の糸と糸との隙間に押しつぶされた、音や言葉の断片を聴くこと。糸と指を遊ばせながら、発話を可能にする空気を含ませて織りなおすこと。テクストtextの語源が、織ることを意味するtexere であることに端を発する、糸と布の、思考と書かれたものの間にある「音」をめぐるインスタレーション。

実験的な音、音楽、パフォーマンスの間の流動性において活動するアーティスト。近年は歴史的に沈黙させられてきた（女性の）声を可聴化するというテーマのもと、オノ・ヨーコや川上貞奴など、海外にゆかりのある日本人女性にかんするプロジェクトを国内外で展開している。近年の活動に、コンサート「Japanese Women Experimental Sound Artists」（Emily Harvey Foundation、ニューヨーク、2022）、個展「Unearthed Tremor」（国際芸術センター青森、2021）、個展「声をひそめて」（TOKAS本郷、東京、2019）など。
個人での活動のほか、サウンド・アート・コレクティブ Hojo+Kraftとして、個々人の私的で隠された音と場所との関係を探るプロジェクトをおこなう。
Tomoko Hojo is an artist working within the fluidity between sound, music and performance. Recently Hojo works internationally on the theme that makes (women’s) silenced voices audible in the history, with a special focus on Japanese women who have relations to western countries, such as Yoko Ono, Sadayakko Kawakami. Recent solo exhibitions and concerts are Japanese Woman Experimental Sound Artists (Emily Harvey Foundation, NYC, 2022), Unearthed Tremor (Contemporary Art Center Aomori, 2021), Sotto Voce (TOKAS Hongo, Tokyo, 2019). She also works as a sound art collective Hojo+Kraft exploring personal, hidden relationship between people and place.

アーティスト、パフォーマー、コンポーザー。2020年まではNY、現在は水戸を拠点に活動している。過去30年間に渡っ て録り溜めたフィールドレコーディングによるサウンド・ダイアリーを用いたプロジェクト《カセット・メモリーズ》 で知られている。パフォーマンス、インスタレーション、出版物などの多肢に渡る表現形態で、「記憶」 にまつわる作 品群を発表してきた。ルーブル美術館(2011)、ポンピドゥセンター(2013)、ドクメンタ 14(アテネ、2017)、ウォーカー・アート センター(ミネアポリス、2015)、 ナム・ジュン・パイク・アートセンター(2010)などでパフォーマンスを発表。主な展覧会は、 PICA(ポートランド、2021)、MoMA PS1(2022)、トロント・バイアニュアル・オブ・アート(2021)など。加えて、キュレーターとし て、The Kitchen、TPAM-国際舞台芸術ミーティング in 横浜(現YPAM)などてプログラムを組み、他のアーティストの活動を 支援をしてきた。
Aki Onda is an artist and composer currently based in Mito, Japan, after living in New York for two decades. His works are often catalyzed by and structured around memories—personal, collective, historical—such as his widely-known project, Cassette Memories (2004–ongoing), drawn from three decades of field recordings. Crossing genres, he has been active internationally in art, film, music and performance. Onda has presented his work at The Kitchen, MoMA, New Museum, Blank Forms, ICA Philadelphia, REDCAT, Time-Based Art Festival, documenta 14, Louvre Museum, Pompidou Center, Palais de Tokyo, Fondation Cartier, Argos, Bozar, ICA London, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Nam June Paik Art Center and many others. This year, Onda participated in the Toronto Biennial of Art, and his installation is currently on view at MoMA PS1 until January 2023.
